Anyone come across a luthier-usable way to do this? My interest is in being able to use holly fret markers in a rosewood neck (the guitar being holly-bound). Impregnating the holly inlay with some form of clear varnish would get round the obvious dirt problem entirely - anyone tried it or know how to? |

You might check with Larry Davis over at Gallery Hardwoods. Larry has been doing acrylized wood for some time. I'm sure he could whip up a piece or two of holly for you. |

No problem...I do it for knife handles and scales. Comes out looking a bit like aged ivory instead of snow white. |
